The crash occurred around 1:10 a.m. near the I-270 interchange when Willis lost control of her 2014 Jeep Cherokee while driving westbound.
According to police reports, Willis veered off the right side of the road, hitting a concrete wall. Her vehicle then crossed the median, struck a guardrail, flipped, and landed in the eastbound lanes—directly in the path of a 2021 Freightliner semitruck. The truck collided with the overturned Jeep, causing a devastating impact.
Emergency responders transported Willis to Mount Carmel East hospital in critical condition, but despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead at 2:32 a.m. Authorities have not disclosed details about the truck driver’s condition or any possible contributing factors such as drugs or alcohol. The crash remains under investigation.
